September 2008 - A Sunday River Cruise
In this month’s Paris Insights we recount our recent boating excursion – a relaxing day-long cruise up the Seine and Marne rivers. Leaving the familiar sights of Paris behind, the boat ventured into picturesque waterways upon whose riverbanks stand stately houses and weeping willow trees.
Arriving at the island of Brise-Pain, the boat moored alongside a riverfront restaurant. In this month’s Le Bon Goût we review the restaurant Domaine Sainte-Catherine where we dined. The riverfront along the Seine in the easternmost part of Paris holds many surprises. Among them is an 800-ton reinforced cement boat that was built almost 100 years ago. Read our account of this marvelous vessel in this month’s Paris, Past and Present.
